Description: Coron is a small town on the island of Busuanga, Palawan which lends its name to the local diving. It offers some of the Philippines most spectacular scenery, ranging from huge limestone cliffs, underwater and land caves to thermal lakes, hot springs, jungle, rivers and mangrove swamps.

Diving: Most of the dive shops are based in Coron town but there are liveaboard leaving from Puerto Princessa, Pandan island and Puerto Galera.

Dive sites: There is great diving all around the area, but the bay is particularly well known as having some of the best wreck diving in the world. On the 24th September 1944, the US Navy launched a massive air strike on a Japanese supply fleet that was anchored in Coron Bay and claimed to have sunk 24 vessels. 12 of the wrecks have been discovered with 8 of them close together in Coron Bay, the others slightly further afield.

Marine life includes a big variety of soft and hard corals on top of most wrecks, turtles, batfishes, shrimpfishes, scorpionfishes, crocodile flatheads and lots of other reef fishes but Coron mostly is a destination reserved for wreckies.

Favorites are "Akitsushima", "Okikawa Maru", "Barracuda Lake".
