Description: Koh Chang (meaning "Elephant Island") is the second largest island of Thailand and is located on the Thai east coast near the border to Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Chang was named for the elephant shape of its headland, although elephants are not indigenous to the island. Mountainous island covered by tropical rain forest, Koh Chang was previously an unsettled island but it is now important for it's fresh water resources and as a harbor for ships to escape from the monsoon.

Diving: They are plenty of dive shops on the island (see links below) so have a walk around to see which one suits you. The boats are leaving from the south of the island which can add (depending where you're staying) 1 hour drive to go to the pier and 1 hour to come back.

Dive sites: Most of Koh Chang's dive sites are located to the south of the main island and dive operators are organizing day trips including 2 dives with lunch on the boat. There are mostly (very) shallow reef dives but also a pinnacle and some boulder formations.

Marine life includes turtles, school of snappers and damselfishes, yellowtail barracudas, rays, morays and lots of others reef fishes.

Favorites are "Hin Luk Bath", "Hin Raab", "Hin Gua Daeng".
