Description: Pulau Weh is a small active volcanic island to the northwest of Sumatra. It was originally connected to the Sumatran mainland and became separated by sea after the volcano's last eruption.

Diving: Diving is all year round with the dry season running from April to October. There are a few dive shops on the island (see links below) mainly based on Gapang beach and Ipoh.

Dive sites: The dive sites are easily accessible by dive boats (5 to 30 min) and most dive shops are doing single dive trips. With its clear water, Pulau Weh has something for everyone including muck diving from the shore, drift dives, coral reefs, drop offs, and wrecks.

Marine life includes turtles, sharks (blacktip, leopard,...), rays (eagle, marbled,...), tons of morays, octopuses, an amazing macro life, an occasional whale shark or sunfish and millions of others reef fishes.

Favorites are "Batee Tokong", "Sophie Rickmer Wreck", "The Canyon".
